Preventing bullying and violence

""

The Department of Education wants students to enjoy school and feel that they can learn in a safe and supportive environment. Bullying, harassment, discrimination and violence are actions and behaviours that are not acceptable in schools.

The department has recently released the Stand out from the crowd action plan (PDF, 149KB) to outline departmental actions to prevent and address bullying and cyberbullying in Queensland schools. The action plan responds to recommendations from the Queensland Anti-Cyberbullying Taskforce report, and supports a community-wide approach to addressing and responding to instances of bullying and cyberbullying.

State schools have a Responsible behaviour plan for students that describes how they create positive environments and deal with bullying behaviours.
