The principal plays a pivotal role in developing a safe, supportive and disciplined school environment. Student outcomes improve when principals demonstrate active support for schoolwide implementation of Postive Behaviour for Learning (PBL).
Principals in PBL schools actively participate in the PBL school leadership team and ensure that whole-school behaviour support is included in school improvement planning. Principals also provide professional learning opportunities for all staff to enhance their skills to positively manage behaviour.
All principals in Queensland state schools are responsible for their school’s implementation of Department of Education policies and procedures and for communicating school policies to staff, students, parents and the wider community.
